Confronting A Quitter

So more than often, I get clients who are spoiled. [AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE]. 😉 They want to lose all their weight in 3 days, 3 weeks, some even 3 months when they know you can not lose 200 lbs in 3 months. It just wont happen. I’m sorry. However, no need to worry. Patience is the winner over all obstacles in life. Including weight loss. So here’s a few words of advice for those of you who are thinking of quitting or get discouraged in such a short period of time 🙂 …

Quit for what? Are you getting fatter??? The only reason anyone should quit any program is if they are literally getting FATTER!! There is a difference in that and gaining weight, especially when exercise is incorporated into your program. When you begin to work out and put on muscle, your body shape will begin to change. The inches will begin to shed and your clothes will fit different. They will fit more loose and you will see space in your clothes, jeans especially.Putting on muscle is good because you now have the ability to burn fat while resting. However, if you are like most of my clients who love to jump on and off that scale, you will continue to think you are gaining weight when really you are adding muscle.

Furthermore, detoxing for weight loss is a healthy process that eliminates toxins and waste from the body that have built up for YEARS! Not only from fatty foods but preservatives and additives in wholesome foods that are presumed to be healthy. This process is going to give you a steady and consistent weight loss while rejuvenating your body to live more healthy and toxin free. This is so you don’t rebound your weight after you reach your desired goals. Elimination [bowel movements], urination, thermogenesis [sweating, heated body temp], and increased energy are all signs that you are detoxing. This is a positive and you should celebrate each victory! No matter if you only are showing 1 sign or all of them, you are showing progress and you should not quit just because the progress is not at the pace you want. You didn’t put all the weight on your body over night, so don’t expect it to fall off that way either, unless you want to put it all right back on in six months.

Lastly, don’t compare yourself to others. Often times clients get discouraged when their groups of peers are dropping the pounds so quickly while they seem to only be treading water. This is why we developed the body type quiz to help women determine just what shape they are and help them predict a specific timeline for progress in weight loss. Reality is that all of bodies, shapes and habits are different. Hence why we will get different results at different points in time. But that’s OK! You should be loving exactly who you are anyway. Love yourself, your shape and your progress and celebrate each chance you get. One pound this week; celebrate! Two inches next week; celebrate! No weight loss at all, but no weight gain either, CELEBRATE! If you can lose one pound per week, do the math; that will leave you 52 pounds lighter at the end of the year. And if I told you that you could lose 52 pounds this year, you would take it and rejoice I’m sure.

Now, with all that being said, stop thinking so hard about this weight loss process. Just enjoy the natural ability to lose weight without thinking about it. Take your capsules daily and make sure you are eating throughout the day, drinking half your body weight in ounces of water, and the results will come. After the first ninety days if you are still the same size or larger than before, then you can say “I QUIT” and I may consider supporting you. 🙂 But remember, A quitter never prospers.
